    The Guild
    of California Pacific Medical Center

Promoting excellent health care at CPMC

    Our mission

For 100 years, the Guild has promoted the services and health programs of California Pacific Medical Center in its pursuit of excellence in health care. The Guild commits time, ideas, energy and talent to motivate, vitalize and empower others with a caring and sharing spirit to generate human and financial resources for the Medical Center. Our members are recognized as an integral part in fulfilling the dreams and ambitions of those who founded CPMC.

    History of the Guild

With the merger of Children’s Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital in 1991, the Guild of CPMC was formed. The Service Group from Children’s Hospital and the Auxiliary from Presbyterian Hospital became the Guild of CPMC.

    Guild projects

    • Funding for the Medical Center
In December 2011, the Guild donated $50,000 towards the purchase of infant bed warmers, a funding priority of CPMC Foundation. This state-of-the-art equipment provides temperature stability as a fragile newborn begins to thrive.
    • Comfort for newborns and children
Since 2010, the Guild has collaborated with members of San Francisco’s Metropolitan ClubOpens new window to make hand knit and crocheted blankets and caps for CPMC's Newborn Intensive Care UnitOpens new window as well as for the children who are patients in the Pediatric Department.

In addition to the knitters at the Metropolitan Club, the Woodywoof Project continues to go strong, boasting over 40 knitters who meet regularly on Thursday afternoons at the California Campus to knit an array of warm, beautiful blankets and hats for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit including preemies who are in need of some extra TLC. If you are interested in joining the knitting group, please contact Jean Scardina at 415-585-5475.
    • CPMC Gift Shops
All proceeds from CPMC's four campus gifts shops, along with other funds raised by the Guild, go toward funding much needed hospital equipment and patient programs.
