The Wisdom of Meditation: Caring for Ourselves

Whether you are new to meditation or wishing to refresh your practice, these workshops offer an introduction to methods of meditation. Through guided practice and reflection, we will focus on our inherent well-being that is always with us, beneath the turbulence of our thoughts, emotions and physical pain. We will explore ways of transforming our own mind, and the effect that can have on our quality of life.

    Workshops will provide:

    • Meditation instruction for beginners.
    • Short periods of sitting chair meditation with guided practice and reflection.
    • Discussion on benefits of meditation, including recent scientific research.
    • Guided meditations on expanding our compassion, and our capacity to be mindfully present through the senses, such as working with sound and sensations of pain.
    • Integrating meditation into daily life.

    Meditation Faculty

Rosa Kocher brings more than 20 years of experience, as both an instructor and a practitioner of meditation and contemplative practice, drawing from both eastern and western lineages. She integrates her professional training in grief support, hospice and end-of-life care, as well as 25 years in her practice of medical massage therapy. She has found the importance of compassion practice, starting with self-compassion, as support for meditation to be a key to success.
