The Health Care Center (HCC) at California Pacific Medical Center’s St. Luke’s Campus is a state-chartered community clinic. Its mission is to provide primary care services to the members of the underserved communities in the South of Market area of San Francisco. In addition to providing quality patient care, the HCC is committed to outreach and education. Components of the Health Care Center include:

Women's Center

The Women’s Center offers award-winning services that combine the expertise of its physicians and certified nurse midwives. These services include family planning, prenatal care, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, second opinions regarding gynecologic surgery and menopausal care.

"For pregnant women, we follow a philosophy of care that focuses on low-intervention birthing to assist patients in this natural process while guarding their safety," says HCC Women’s Center Medical Director Laura Norrell, M.D. "As a result, our rates for labor induction and cesarean births are very low, and many people exploring their birthing options are looking for that."

The newly consolidated Women’s Center — located in the Monteagle Medical Office Building at 1580 Valencia Street, Suite 508 — provides women with "one-stop shopping" for medical care. It also features an improved space for the Women’s Center popular Centering Pregnancy Program that provides high-quality prenatal care with group support from other pregnant women. The Women’s Center also offers prenatal education classes and free yoga sessions.

Pediatric Clinic

The Health Care Center’s Pediatric Clinic is an important provider health care services for children in the community, with approximately 16,000 patient visits per year. Services offered include well-baby and well-child check-ups, school physical exams, immunizations and care for children who are sick or injured. Most recently, the Pediatric Clinic added an advice nurse to answer parent inquiries by phone.

Adult Internal Medicine

St. Luke’s Neighborhood Clinic offers adult primary care and health counseling for teenagers and adults. The clinic, located in the Monteagle Medical Office Building at 1580 Valencia Street, works closely with the HealthFirst program on the St. Luke’s campus. HealthFirst employs an interdisciplinary team of community health workers who focus on chronic illness management and education.
