Bowel preparation is necessary since gas or stool in your lower rectum will interfere with the ultrasound picture.

Bowel Preparation:
1. Start on a clear liquid diet 24 hours prior to your exam.

2. Take 10 ounces of Magnesium Citrate according to the bottle directions at 4:00pm the day prior to your exam.

3. Take a Fleet enema one-hour prior to your arrival time. If needed, additional bowel preparation will be completed at the hospital.

4. Please follow your physician's instructions regarding your prescription medication.
