The Health Psychology Program provides psychosocial support services to patients and families coping with the effects of medical illnesses. Health Psychology staff work collaboratively with medical providers throughout California Pacific Medical Center to provide coordinated care that addresses the whole person. Free consultation is available to patients and family members through:
- Radiation Oncology
- Cardiac Rehablitation
- Neurogastroenterology and Motility
- Community Health Resource Center

Supportive Therapy
Short-term supportive therapy services are available to patients and their families. Therapists work with individuals, couples, and families to explore the challenges of coping with medical illnesses, deal with life transitions, and identify their personal and social resources in a confidential setting. Supportive therapy helps:
- Lessen the emotional impact of illness
- Reduce stress, anxiety and depression
- Manage pain and adverse side effects
- Increase well being and quality of life
- Improve relationships with others
- Create meaning from illness
Health Psychology Staff
Health Psychology staff consist of psychology fellows, who have several years of clinical and academic experience, and board licensed clinical psychologists with extensive specialized training in the delivery of mental health services in medical settings. Therapists have expertise with:
- Individual, couples, family and group therapy
- Treatment of stress, anxiety and depression
- Managing sleep or weight issues
- Mindfulness and stress reduction skills
- Changing problematic behaviors
- Health education and promotion
