Program Description
Supervised by physical therapy professionals, the Total Body Fitness (TBF) class is designed for people of all fitness levels. TBF is designed around a circuit of stations. Each station incorporates a single high-intensity interval training (HIIT) exercise. HIIT focuses on your body’s different muscle groups, resulting in a more efficient metabolism. It’s more effective for fat burning and less time consuming than other endurance activities, such as running, cycling, and swimming. By exercising different muscle groups, the body continues to burn fat while it’s recovering from the previous exercise session.
The diversity of these exercises strengthens your core, upper body, and lower body. Doing exercises in a circuit fashion results in less time needed in the weight room for a well rounded fitness regime.
The daily benefits you will receive from participating in this class include:
- Improved body composition
- Improved posture for sedentary-type jobs
- Improved energy levels for dealing with daily stressors at work or home
- Improved confidence and psychological health
In addition, the high intensity and more powerful nature of the exercises compliment endurance activities by stimulating the fast-twitch muscle fibers. Fast-twitch fibers are important for sports requiring powerful movements such as soccer, skiing, or tennis. High-intensity interval training will enhance your performance in other sports.
The performance benefits you will receive from this class include:
- Improved power for dynamic movements such as jumping or sprinting
- Improved core stability for speed with rotational movements
- Improved ability to sprint at the end of an endurance event (running, cycling,or swimming)
Who would benefit from the class?
- All fitness levels from those just beginning an exercise program to high level athletes
