Why Run?

Running is one of the oldest sports, dating back to the first marathons in ancient Athens. Over the past several years, running has grown in popularity. Many reasons contribute to this recent surge in running as the recreational sport of choice. Running is convenient and can be done safely in most areas. It’s a relatively low-cost sport and boosts several physiological, as well as psychological benefits including, relieving stress, controlling depression, weight reduction, blood pressure control, improved cardiovascular fitness, and improved self esteem.

How we can help

Running accounts for over 1.5million injuries annually, according to the American Sports Data. Through the course of their running careers, 50 to70% of runners are likely to sustain at least one running related injury. Due to the repetitive nature of the sport, and the compressive loads sustained through the joints, (greater than 2-3x body weight) overuse injuries, affecting the hip, knee, ankle and foot, are the most common. Achieving a fluid and mechanically sound running cycle is critical to injury prevention. Establishing a good muscular balance in the lower legs improves efficiency and lengthens your running career.

What to expect

The Comprehensive Running Evaluation includes a 60-minute biomechanical examination of your running technique performed by a trained physical therapist running specialist.
