Visiting Outpatient Rehabilitation
Your Initial Evaluation
A referral from your physician is required in order to start any treatment plan. During the initial evaluation your therapist will review your medical history and discuss the symptoms related to your need for treatment. With your therapist, you will set therapeutic goals for your medical condition. The therapist will conduct a physical examination to determine the nature of your medical needs and develop at treatment plan. After performing an evaluation, you will receive your initial therapy treatment and plan of care.
You will receive one-on-one sessions with a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. (Never a physical therapy aide, as observed in some other clinics)
What to Wear to Your Appointments
It is best to wear loose fitting clothing to all of your therapy appointments as your therapist will conduct a physical examination and observe your movements during your treatments. Hospital gowns are available for your use if necessary.
Appropriate clothing includes:
- Shorts
- Sweat pants
- T-shirts
- Tank tops/Sports bra
- Socks with sneakers
- Swimming trunks or bathing suit (aquatic therapy only)
