Nikolaj Wolfson, MD, FRCSC, FACS is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with diverse experience in primary and complex revision hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Wolfson graduated from Sackler Medical School, Tel Aviv University. After serving as a medical officer in IDF, he did his residency in orthopedic surgery in London, Ontario, Canada and completed combined fellowship in Adult Joint Replacement and orthopedic trauma at the University of Toronto in Canada. Prior to his private practice in San Francisco he held a full-time appointment at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Dr. Wolfson holds specialist certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). He is among one of the first surgeons to implement the Direct Anterior hip approach for hip replacement surgery. Dr. Wolfson has special interest in joint and limb preservation surgery, an evolving field of orthopedics.
Dr. Wolfson is active not only clinically, but also in research related to orthopedic surgery. He is involved in cutting edge technology as a visiting scientist at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. Besides his inventions and patents, he demonstrates commitment to his specialty through his publications and applicable memberships with national and international societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons (FACS) and other national and international organizations.
He has volunteered his expertise and skills in Haiti and is leading a Disaster Orthopaedic Initiative within the world's largest, international orthopaedic organization SICOT, where he serves on the Board of Directors. Dr. Wolfson is a member of the Emergency Management Committee at CPMC.
