Dr. Purchase is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery and sports medicine. He attended Washington and Jefferson College; near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; where he competed in two Division III national championship football games and completed his Bachelors degree in biology. He attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He remained at Temple University for his orthopedic residency and completed his training with a shoulder and sports medicine fellowship here in San Francisco. After completion of his training, Dr. Purchase practiced in the Modesto region for 3 years.
He routinely performs treatment of all manner of musculoskeletal traumatic injuries as well as elective total knee and hip replacements, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques. Furthermore, he has specific expertise in arthroscopic shoulder techniques and shoulder replacements.
Dr. Purchase has written many articles that have been published recently in the peer-reviewed orthopedic literature on both shoulder arthroscopic and replacement techniques. His current research interests continue to explore these issues.
