Breastfeeding Class – Each 2.5 hour class discusses the benefits and basic techniques of breastfeeding; how to prevent, recognize and manage potential difficulties; and considerations for partners. Offered as a one time class: morning class at 9-11:30 am or afternoon class at 6:30-9 pm

Breastfeeding & Multiples – Learn the basics of breastfeeding in the 2.5 hour class, along with the specific ideas and methods on how-to manage twins, triplets or beyond. Offered as a one time class.

Childbirth Preparation – Classes draw upon a variety of techniques including Lamaze, Bradley, and Simkin and includes instruction in relaxation and breathing to reduce the discomfort of labor, alternative labor and birth positions, massage, the partner's role, hospital and possible medical procedures, medicated and non-medicated labor, anesthesia and cesarean birth. Offered as an One-time Class or as a series: Two Part Series - Morning Session, or Two Part Series - Afternoon Session.

Expectant Fathers Only – A class designed especially for fathers-to-be. Topics and group discussions include helping your partner through pregnancy and childbirth, caring for a new baby, balancing work and parenting and maintaining a healthy relationship. While we encourage partners to attend most classes, the Expectant Fathers Only class is designed specifically for fathers-to-be. Offered as a one time class.

Infant & Child CPR, First Aid and AED Training – Presented by CPMC Nursing Education. Parents & caregivers are taught emergency measures to clear the airway and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on infants & children.

Meet the Doulas – Presented by the San Francisco Doula Group. Learn about how a doula can help you as you prepare for labor, delivery, and even after the birth of your baby. General information is presented the first hour followed by a chance to network and socialize.

Newborn Parenting – Learn survival tips for the early weeks with your baby as you discover newborn appearance and behavior. Includes baby care basics with hands-on practice with diapering, swaddling, taking a temperature, and bathing. Offered as a one-time intensive class at 9 am - 2 pm or 12 - 5 pm or as a Two Part Series.

Pain Relief Options: Ask the Anesthesiologist – Learn about the pain relief options for childbirth at CPMC and receive answers to all of your medication questions directly from an anesthesiologist.

Prenatal Yoga – Prenatal yoga is both energizing and gentle. Each 90-minute class includes meditation, visualization, breath practice, yoga poses to safely stretch and strengthen the whole body in preparation for labor and birth, deep relaxation, and discussion. Prenatal yoga classes complement birth education courses in assisting women in preparing for and meeting the physical and emotional demands of childbirth and motherhood. A consent form (Download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat ReaderOpens new window) must be signed by your health care provider and attached to your registration form. Class is offered as a six-part series.

Sibling Celebration – Future siblings are prepared for the new baby's arrival through games, stories and role-playing. Classes are offered and focused for 3 - 6 year olds. All siblings receive an "I'm a Big Sister" or "I'm a Big Brother" baseball cap. A parent must attend with his/her child. We recommend you attend close to your due date.

Twins, Triplets & More – This workshop is designed to give expectant parents basic information on raising twins or more including reassuring advice and practical considerations.
