Because breast milk is the perfect first food for your baby, Newborn Connections wants to make sure that you have the breastfeeding support you need. Through our private breastfeeding consultations and weekly support groups, you can receive professional instruction and reassurance.

Breastfeeding is a learned skill and doesn't always come naturally. Some new mothers may experience soreness in their breasts and have concerns about whether their baby is latched on correctly. A breastfeeding consultation can help with these issues. Some common questions for which mothers seek a consultation include:

  • Is my positioning and latch correct?
  • Am I doing everything right?
  • Do I have enough milk?
  • Is my baby gaining enough weight?
We encourage you to take advantage of our breastfeeding support resources. Successful breastfeeding is a combination of patience, good technique, and support. As you and your baby become more proficient, breastfeeding will become easier and more enjoyable.

Breastfeeding Consultations

Newborn Connections’ Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants are specially trained experts whose goal is to enhance your breastfeeding experience.

  • We recommend that you schedule an appointment with a lactation consultant anytime you suspect a problem or simply need reassurance.
  • If you saw a lactation consultant in the hospital and continue to have concerns, we recommend that you schedule an initial consultation with our outpatient service upon your return home.
  • To schedule a consultation, call us at (415) 600-2229.
Initial Consultation
You will be paired with one of our consultants who will review any concerns you are having, observe you and your baby during a feeding and offer guidance to ensure that both you and your baby are getting the most out of breastfeeding. A follow-up visit is recommended after your initial consultation to review your technique and address any new questions or concerns.

Fees
Initial Consultation--75 minutes: $115
Initial Consultation (for multiples)--90 minutes: $150
Follow-up Visit--40 - 60 minutes: $115
Working & Breastfeeding--45-60 minutes: $115

"Having the breastfeeding group gave me a great forum for sharing and receiving ideas. To have a place to go with your baby and feel comfortable to care for both you and your baby's needs is so important for new mothers." - Amy
