September 2008 - August 2009

Massage therapy interns learn how to bring skilled touch to the bedside in a medical setting. Skilled touch is a technique that provides a light and comforting touch in a highly charged emotional situation, bringing relief to patients, caregivers, and families. We offer both a 500-hour and 120-hour certification program. Education takes place at California Pacific Medical Center.

Core Curriculum
We teach three domains of focus so that your unique healing abilities are fully embodied in patient care.

1) Discipline-Specific Training advances your understanding and proficiency in your specialization while developing a therapeutic presence.

2) Professional Development includes the use of the action/reflection model, goal setting and self care practices.

3) Collaborative Team Approach is the program's "signature" element, giving you a unique opportunity to work within a team of conventional and integrative medicine providers to create treatment plans.

Internship Prerequisites
Applicants are graduates of a state-approved school of massage therapy and hold certification in massage therapy (CMT). A minimum of six months experience as a massage practitioner is preferred. Registered nurses will also be considered.

To Apply
The application process includes submitting a written application and a personal interview. There is a $65 application fee.

Enrollment
The program begins in September, and applications are accepted starting in January. The program requires a 500-hour commitment over a one year period for training and clinical practice. Because students often find the program to be rigorous, the application process favors experienced health professionals or those who want to learn in a supervised clinical setting. Clinical placement is dependent on hospital priority, department need and student requests.

Program Fees
The fee for the program is $2,800, payable in advance of the program. There is a non-refundable deposit of $600 due upon acceptance.
