    Integrative Medicine

  • National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) is the Federal Government’s lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). NCCAM provides information on the use of CAM therapies for medical conditions and on which CAM therapies have been proven to be safe and effective.

  • American Cancer Society’s web site contains in-depth information on every major cancer type. Other useful sections on the web site include a directory of medical resources, links to other sites organized by cancer type or topic, resources for media representatives, and information on the Society's research grants program, advocacy efforts, and special events.

  • People Living With Cancer is the patient information website of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). PLWC provides timely, oncologist-approved information to help patients and families make informed health-care decisions. The site offers information on more than 50 types of cancer and their treatments, clinical trials, coping, and side effects to cancer treatments. Additional resources include Find an Oncologist database and patient support organizations.

  • NCI's Comprehensive Cancer Database contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, and supportive care, and complementary integrative medicine; a registry of cancer clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians, professionals who provide genetics services, and organizations that provide cancer care. Includes cancer staging information, standard and experimental treatment protocols.

  • Medline/PubMed is the premier database used by health professionals and researchers containing references to 4,600 biomedical journals published in the US and 70 other countries from the 1940s to the present. Most records have English abstracts. Many recent records have links to full text articles that can be purchased for one-time use from the publisher, some full text articles are free.

  • Dietary Supplements Labels Database
    offers information about ingredients in more than two thousand selected brands of dietary supplements. It is designed to help both the general public and health care providers find information about ingredients in brand-name products.

  • Allied and Complementary Medicine Database (AMED) is produced by the Health Care Information Service of the British Library and covers journals in complementary medicine, palliative care, chiropractic, manipulative & physical modalities, and several allied health professions.

  • Alt HealthWatch is a database providing full text from 180 journals on complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It also includes hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts.

  • Health Source - Consumer Edition - EbscoHost Research Database contains searchable full text for nearly 150 journals on consumer health, medical sciences, nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health.

  • Nursing & Allied Health Collection EbscoHost Research Database is designed for nursing and allied health professionals. This database provides full text for nearly 400 journals covering the areas of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health and allied health disciplines.

  • Natural Standard provides high quality, evidence-based information about complementary and alternative therapies from more than 100 eminent academic institutions worldwide.
