Creating Your Plan

At the Health & Healing Clinic, your care begins with an in-depth and comprehensive 60-90 minute assessment to understand who you are and why you have come to see us -- not only your diagnosis but all related aspects of your life. The assessment covers personal and family medical history and medications, as well as elements of your life that have been shown to influence the course of illness and the effectiveness of treatment.

Stress, sleep habits, fitness, diet, emotions, coping and support, work and family life, how you make change, and your life priorities are some of the factors that contribute to your unique health profile and plan. Lab tests also may be required to understand the best course of treatment.

We work with you to improve your functioning, and to optimize your overall health and sense of well-being. We support your conventional care with a comprehensive selection of options:

Team Approach
After your assessment, your physician will present recommendations for your care that you create together. If necessary, your health may be discussed at a case conference with our entire clinical team so you can receive the best possible approaches for your care. There are usually three components to the plan -- medical management, therapies and self care.

Medical management with an integrative physician is the basis of most care. It involves the ongoing exploration, counseling, lab testing, referrals and oversight needed to achieve your health goals. Our physicians are committed to working closely with you to find the solutions and medical resources needed for your particular situation. Medical management is also supported by the many therapies we offer at the Clinic and throughout the Health & Healing Center.

Self care is about learning key skills to improve coping and support your recovery. Progress in a few identified areas (e.g., nutrition, improved sleep, daily stress reduction techniques, walking or simple exercises) may be important to getting better. We are particularly skilled at identifying and teaching self-care approaches that are tailored to your needs and lifestyle.

The Team
The Clinic team is a group of highly experienced and skilled practitioners who create a caring and safe environment. We can work in consultation with your primary care physician or referring specialist to complement your conventional care with integrative health approaches.

Insurance
The Health & Healing Clinic can now bill PPO/POS insurance and Medicare for most of the integrative medicine services we offer. This includes: new patient assessments with our physicians; follow-up medical visits; acupuncture; and integrative psychotherapy. Coverage may vary based on your insurance plan.
