Jerome Freedman
Jerome Freedman is a cancer survivor since 1997. He attributes his recovery to the consistent love and support of his wife Mala, his son Micah, and his daughters, Rachael and Jessica. In addition to performing extensive research on bladder sparing protocols, he practiced mindfulness meditation, mindful walking with Thich Nhat Hanh, mindful movement and creativity with Anna Halprin, and mindful tennis. His primary interest in joining the Advisory Council is to inspire people to actively participate in their own healing and to bring the concept of mindfulness in healing to the community.
Jerome’s community service efforts include being a member of the board of directors of the Marin AIDS Project, taking part in the Mountain Sangha in Mill Valley and a member of the Order of Interbeing; teaching many people how to use guided imagery for their healing; and peer support for bladder cancer patients referred to him by medical practitioners. He is also a certified teacher in the Enneagram with Helen Palmer.
Professionally, Jerome holds a Ph. D. in computer science, two master’s degrees in physics and a bachelor degree in chemical engineering. He has worked as a software engineer for more than 30 years with five patents to his name and currently consults for the Technical Committee of the Department of Justice monitoring the compliance of Microsoft Corporation with the settlement agreement.
