Jerry W. Mapp is the 2010 Honoree

The Compassionate Service Award honors those who have made extraordinary contributions to the health of our community. We are privileged to honor Jerry W. Mapp on March 7, 2010.

Jerry W. Mapp is President Emeritus of California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Foundation. He recognized early on the need for medical centers to have a “soul” and to that end made a commitment to support the Institute for Health & Healing and the Department of Spiritual Care at CPMC. Over the years, he has gone above and beyond in his service to the IHH, ensuring a safe harbor for the program through his advocacy and fundraising. Jerry’s personal health challenge confronting Parkinson’s disease has brought his passion and commitment to integrative medicine forward in a very personal way.

Jerry has committed his career and whole-hearted devotion to providing care to those most in need. As President and Chief Executive Officer of CPMC Foundation for the past 25 years, he has overseen an investment portfolio that grew from $2M to over $200M. In addition, during his tenure, fundraising grew from $1M annually to nearly $30M. Through his visionary leadership, Jerry has developed a community of active and educated donors, created a professional and diverse fundraising team, and advanced the reputation of the Medical Center within the San Francisco Bay Area, across the region, and throughout the nation. He is recognized as one of the most seasoned and successful healthcare fundraising professionals in the western United States.

Over the years, Jerry has received numerous awards including in 2004, the Award of Excellence from the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy. As a Vietnam veteran, he is a longstanding member of Swords to Plowshares, a veteran’s advocacy group, and is on the Board of Directors at KQED.
