Celebrating Science & Soul
Our Annual Event is March 7, 2010
Celebrating Science & Soul generates donations to support the Institute for Health & Healing's work of healing people and transforming the practice of medicine. Last year the Institute touched the lives of more than 50,000 people, many through our scholarship fund and free programs at the bedside and in the Bay Area community. Your contribution to this special event makes a difference for so many of our patients and people throughout the Bay Area.

Pioneers in Integrative Medicine
As a leader in integrative medicine, the Institute for Health & Healing has long sought to honor international experts whose work is furthering the field. Every year we select and honor a "Pioneer in Integrative Medicine". Matthew Sanford is the recipient of the 2010 Pioneers Award. His inspirational story began at age 13 when a devastating car accident left him permanently paralyzed from the chest down. Matthew is an award-winning author, nationally recognized yoga teacher, and leading voice for change. Through his healing work, he has touched the lives of thousands.
Past Honorees
Compassionate Service Award
The Compassionate Service Award honors those who have made extraordinary contributions to the health of our community. In 2010, we are privileged to honor Jerry W. Mapp, President Emeritus of the California Pacific Medical Center Foundation. Jerry recognized early on in his career the need for medical centers to have a “soul” and to that end made a commitment to support the Institute for Health & Healing and the Department of Spiritual Care at CPMC.
