Michell Kawaja
Nia
Michell Kawaja began her dancing career as a ballerina in Oregon. She went on to receive her BFA from the Juilliard School, and completed a yearlong training program at the Tamalpa Institute for movement-based expressive arts therapy. After 8 years of practicing the Nia Technique, Michell completed the white and blue belt intensives with Nia founders Debbie and Carlos Rosas.
Michell currently teaches movement and Nia throughout the Bay Area in colleges, dance studios, schools, and gyms. She conducts her classes with a heavy focus on the joy of movement. Michell strives to make movement accessible to all students, encouraging them to explore their creative potential, tap into body awareness, and above all, have fun.
