Kaz Shibao
Feldenkrais & Orthopedic Massage
Kaz Shibao is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner and a Certified Orthopedic Massage Therapist. He offers movement-based therapies at the Health & Healing Clinic, directly addressing the source of pain not just the symptoms. Feldenkrais re-educates the body to move with natural ease and focused attention, while orthopedic massage blends bodywork, manual therapy, and Eastern energy healing.
Kaz works with individuals facing chronic pain and disability from job, athletic or performance-based overuse injuries. He is committed to helping people learn how to decrease discomfort and increase their quality of life.
Kaz has an extensive background in movement education as a Senior Instructor of Shintaido, a Japanese martial art, which provides a strong foundation for his current practice. His nurturing and gentle nature encourages movement habits and strategies to change, leading to positive changes and wellness with the emphasis on prevention. His friendly approach makes it a pleasure to learn to move more intelligently and efficiently.
Kaz teaches an Awareness Through Movement® group class. His individualized hands-on sessions of Feldenkrais and/or orthopedic massage are effective for people with acute or chronic pain; low back pain; neck pain with loss of motion; rotator cuff injuries; hip degeneration; knee pain and stiffness; foot pain, including plantar fasciitis; thumb and finger pain and stiffness; numbness in the extremities; loss of motion due to tendonitis, bursitis or arthritis; poor posture; and neurological disorders, such as cerebral palsy.
