David Schanaker, DC
David Schanaker, DC draws from decades of experience as an integrative medicine innovator and accomplished health care practitioner who combines complementary therapies with chiropractic adjustments. He uses a broad set of tools and approaches, along with presence and deep listening, to evoke a healing response.
As a Doctor of Chiropractic, David assesses the musculoskeletal and craniosacral systems to identify physical misalignments and imbalances. He supplements chiropractic techniques with osteopathic craniosacral treatments, myofascial release, and nasal cranial release therapy. David sees patients of all ages and treats a wide range of conditions including:
- spinal and musculoskeletal disorders
- chronic and acute pain conditions
- accident-related injuries
- head pain including tension, migraine, TMJ, ear infections, and sinus distress
- chronic health conditions such as digestive issues and fatigue
After addressing initial or acute issues, David can also provide guidance on how optimal health can be maintained through lifestyle changes large or small. He gathers details about diet, relationships, activity, and peace of mind to get a sense of a patient’s life patterns, and helps them set realistic goals. His expertise in complementary modalities includes nutrition and healthy lifestyle counseling, meditation, therapeutic music, and Chi Gong. By offering a wide range of treatment options, David reinforces a team approach that is an essential part of integrative medicine.
In a lifetime dedicated to creating and sustaining health, David has founded or assisted in developing several integrative clinics including: Wellspring Center for Healing in Stinson Beach, Spectrum Chiropractic Center in Corte Madera, and The Wellness Center in Mt. Shasta. He also founded and was the formulator of Bodhi Bar Inc. that created a raw, adaptogenic herb-infused energy bar.
David graduated from University of Western States with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1984. He has also trained at the Milne Institute in osteopathic approaches to craniosacral therapy, at the Taoist Sanctuary in San Diego in Tui Na, and with Dr. Larry Johnson of the White Elephant Monastery in 18 Buddha Hands and Hua Shan Chi Gong.
Integrative chiropractic services are offered at IHH Marin and IHH Santa Rosa.
