    Yoga

    Yoga has been a source of physical fitness, mental well-being and spiritual renewal since its development in India thousands of years ago. Our yoga is taught in a warm and supportive atmosphere.     Senior Yoga  |  Gentle Yoga for People with Cancer  |  2012 Yoga Workshops

    Senior Yoga

    Developed exclusively for people over 59 years of age, these gentle classes focus on helping participants increase range of motion, improve posture, restore flexibility and increase breath capacity.

    Chair Yoga
    Participants are led through a series of gentle seated and standing yoga poses and relaxation techniques. This class focuses on ease of movement, gentle strengthening and balance, and relaxation.
    On-going: Wednesdays, 11:30 am–1:00 pm

    Gentle Yoga - level 1
    This restorative and healing yoga class includes slow, gentle standing and floor stretches with meditation and relaxation.
    On-going: Thursdays, 9:00–10:30 am

    Senior Hatha Yoga - level 2
    A full range of yoga poses (floor, seated and standing) and relaxation techniques are incorporated in this continuing yoga class. Prior experience is recommended.
    On-going: Thursdays, 2:00-3:30 pm

    Gentle Yoga for People with Cancer

    This gentle class focuses on awakening and supporting the body's natural healing capacity. Research shows that yoga can help relieve stress, ease pain, improve sleep and increase overall well-being. This class combines group support, gentle yoga postures, breathing techniques, guided imagery, and yoga philosophy to relieve stress and encourage healing the body, mind, and heart.

    2012 Yoga Workshops

    Healing, Rejuvenating Yoga: Saturdays 3/3, 6/16, 9/22, and 11/10 from 1 - 4 pm
    Instructor: Kristie Dahlia Home, E-RYT500
    Description: These seasonal workshops take a luxurious pace through a sweet, deep practice. Our aim is healing and rejuvenation. Offered at the turn of each season, this is an invitation to go inward, unwind and refresh. The long class gives ample time for asana practice, energetic breathing, meditation and a long nourishing deep relaxation. Appropriate for people with a wide range of interests and physical states, offering a gentle base practice with options to intensify.
    Cost: $50/workshop

    Restorative Yoga Practice: Saturdays 1/28 and 10/20 from 3 - 5 pm
    Instructor: Madhuri Flynn, E-RYT500
    Restorative yoga balances and nurtures the body. Long-held poses are supported with bolsters and props, allowing the body to relax and deeply rest. This soothing and regenerative practice is a quiet, meditative time to experience peace and tranquility.
    Cost: $30/workshop

    Senior Yoga Beginner's Intro: Thursdays 4/19 and 9/20 from 4 - 6 pm
    Instructor: Madhuri Flynn, E-RYT500
    Beginner’s Intro for seniors is a place to explore the practice of Hatha Yoga. You’ll learn about yogic philosophy, and practice breathing, relaxation techniques, and gentle yoga poses. This workshop is a good introduction to our on-going Senior Yoga classes, designed to help you develop more strength, balance and clarity, and connect with a supportive community. New students are welcome.
    Cost: $20/workshop

    Cancellation Policy: Full refunds are available two weeks prior to class, minus a $25 processing fee. A 50% refund is allowed through the first week of class, after which time there is no refund. No class transfers or exchanges.
