A History of Progress
California Pacific Medical Center has a long history for providing quality health care services. As the largest private, not-for-profit medical center in Northern California, CPMC has been a leader in medical innovations and advancements for more than 120 years.
Interventional radiology and surgical services have been on the leading edge of vascular interventions for the last 50 years. The interventional radiology department was started in 1974 and the first iliac arterial angioplasty was performed in 1978. The first Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt was performed in 1991; Uterine Fibroid Embolizations were first done in 1999; endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repairs began in 2000 and in 2005 cerebral coilings began in IR. We currently perform over 30 AAA a year and over 5500 various procedures per year.
CPMC strives to be at the forefront of medical interventions and care and forming the Vascular Institute allows us to provide more comprehensive and integrated care to our patients by offering all options in vascular repair.
