Fellowship Programs

The fellowships in retina are offered through the San Francisco Matching Program.

Retina

The retina service, directed by H. Richard McDonald, M.D., and Dr. J. Michael Jumper, offers a two-year position every other year. Fellows develop clinical, research and surgical skills by working with members of the retina faculty. Fellows are involved in many ongoing research activities and actively participate in the department's teaching program.

Research

The department offers a 4-12 month long fellowship in ophthalmologic research. The pre-residency research fellow, in conjunction with the faculty at California Pacific Medical Center or with Smith Kettlewell Eye Research Institute may design studies in clinical or basic science research. Support for projects and research travel is provided by the department through the Pacific Vision Foundation.
