The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Center is a full-service ophthalmic diagnostic unit. We are a hospital based ancillary laboratory within the Department of Ophthalmology and offer comprehensive digital fundus imaging, computerized perimetry and a variety of ultrasonic modalities. All tests are provided with interpretive reports by the appropriate specialists. We are available to the ophthalmic community at large on a first come first served basis.

Technical Staff
Our technical staff represents a highly trained team. Denice Barsness has been an ophthalmic photographer/ technician since 1979. She recently served as the president of the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society and currently serves on the board of examiners for the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. Monica Diaz has been an ophthalmic technician since 1994. Ann Sunga has been an ophthalmic assistant since 1999.

Equipment
The laboratory offers state of the art diagnostic equipment. Our cameras are from Ophthalmic Imaging Systems and Carl Zeiss Meditech Instruments. We have the latest model #750 Humphrey field analyzers which offer SITA, FASTPAC and Blue/Yellow options. Alcon and Innovative Imaging comprise our ultrasound equipment. We utilize a Konan non-contact specular microscopy for patient-friendly corneal cell counts. Optic nerve analysis is performed with the Zeiss Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT3). Carl Zeiss Meditech is now available for retinal and optic nerve head analysis.

Interpretive Reports
All procedures are provided with interpretive reports. Photography, Retinal Function Testing and Ultrasound reports are provided by Everett Ai, M.D., Director, Retinal Service, CPMC Department of Ophthalmology. Visual Field reports are provided by Marc Lieberman, M.D., Director, Glaucoma Service, CPMC Department of Ophthalmolgy.

Non-Medical Services
In addition to diagnostic testing we can provide computerized teaching slides using Microsoft PowerPoint. Copywork and special photographic services are available on request. All procedures are stored on a computerized database. Daily, monthly or anual reports on patient activity are available upon request.
