Complications of Diabetes

Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to many serious medical problems, including:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney disease
  • Eye disease
  • Foot infections
  • Nerve damage

People with diabetes are two to four more times likely to suffer from heart disease or stroke. Diabetes is also a leading cause of blindness, end-stage kidney disease and lower limb amputation.
