We begin with a careful family history assessment to determine whether an individual is a candidate for genetic tests. Computer data analysis along with genetic education and counseling enables each individual to make the best decision on whether genetic testing is right for them. Individuals should always check with their insurance regarding coverage for this service. Many Insurance plans will reimburse patients for genetic testing, including Medicare. However, to avoid unexpected medical expenses, it is always best to contact your insurance company prior to consultation.

Should a person, with guidance from a genetic counselor, decide that genetic testing is right for them the test results usually take a minimum of 3 weeks. Results are provided in a private one-on-one setting with a genetic counselor.
