Irene Swindells Alzheimer's Residential Care Program at California Pacific Medical Center is the only medical center-based program in the Bay Area.

At Swindells, we provide individualized, resident-centered care for Alzheimer's Disease and related forms of dementia. We believe that individuals with Alzheimer's should continue to live in comfort and with dignity.

The Swindells Program is carefully designed to maximize resident security and comfort in a non-clinical and home-like setting. A state-of-the-art security system prevents residents from wandering off the premises but is unobtrusive and allows residents to continue to enjoy superior quality of life.

We thoroughly assess each prospective resident prior to admission to ensure that our program is compatible with his or her needs. After admission to Swindells, our team works collaboratively with the resident's primary care physician and specialists to promote physical and psychological well-being.

We develop individually tailored care plans, and conduct case conferences and family support groups in order to help families cope with the emotional challenges of having a loved one with Alzheimer's.

Being a medical center-based program offers residents and families easy accessibility to other California Pacific programs and services.

The Institute for Health and Healing (IHH) offers a variety of services including massage and pastoral care as well as a wealth of information at their Health and Healing Library. Healing products are available at IHH's Healing Store located at 2300 California Street (entrance on Webster Street).

Information about Alzheimer's, support groups and community resources is also available at California Pacific's Community Health Resource Center, located at 2100 Webster Street.
