Our Care Philosophy and History

The Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research Center has been at the forefront of neuromuscular disease research for over 25 years and is now one of the largest ALS clinical research centers in the United States. With one of the largest ALS patient populations, the Center carries on the legacy of its founder, Forbes H. Norris, M.D., a neurologist who was internationally renowned in the field of ALS research and clinical care.

California Pacific Medical Center

The Norris Center is located at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, one of the largest, private, not-for-profit, academic medical centers in Northern California and a Sutter Health affiliate. California Pacific is a regional referral center, providing patients with access to advanced medicine while providing personalized care.

Center of Excellence

The Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research Center is an ALS Association Center of Excellence, as well as one of six national Muscular Dystrophy Association ALS Centers dedicated to the treatment of ALS and related neuromuscular disorders.

Our Care Philosophy

Dr. Forbes Norris, a neurologist who pioneered the comprehensive management of ALS left us a legacy of compassionate care, which he felt every ALS patient deserved.
