The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA) / American Stroke Association (ASA) set out to develop performance measures for DSC Certification for Primary Stroke Centers, the first advanced-level certification program designed to recognize primary stroke centers that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke patient care. California Pacific received the American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Performance Achievement Award by reaching the goal of treating stroke patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care.
In addition to the Gold Plus Aware we received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Target:Stroke Honor Roll. This award is for demonstrating that at least 50% of patients presenting to CPMC within 2 hours of stroke symptoms receive IV Thrombolytic (clot buster) within the goal of 60 minutes.
Our overall Neuro IR perioperative risk of aneurysm rupture or ischemic stroke is 5%, with long-term neurological deficits or death in less than 2%.
Our rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage following our endovascular stroke procedures is 3%. We are successful in opening that blood vessel more than 80% of the time.
Our perioperative risk of ischemic stroke or death from a diagnostic cerebral angiogram from April 2012 to present is zero. Total number of angiograms in that time was 743 cases.
