The California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute
Clinical ResearchOver 80 clinical investigators at CPMC lead innovative research into common, chronic illnesses that impact millions of Americans. Our investigators merge research institute interests with the needs of CPMC’s medical center, making research an integral foundation for improved patient care.
Over 350 clinical trials across CPMC and among Sutter Health hospitals in Northern California are conducted in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative conditions, cancer, cardiology, chronic pain, epilepsy, gastroenterology, kidney and liver disease, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary and critical care medicine, stroke, and transplant medicine.
While some of these trials uncover differences in disease progression or determine the efficacy of new medications, others apply technology to improve diagnosis or the impact of disease.
We protect all study participants with a rigorous set of standards to ensure their safety and privacy. Before any study proceeds, it must be approved as safe and ethical by the CPMC Institutional Review Board.
CPMC participates in many multi-site studies run by external organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), private foundations and industry sponsors.
