The DAISY Award - Celebrating Nursing Excellence and Compassionate Care
At California Pacific Medical Center, our nurses combine clinical expertise with compassion to provide our patients with innovative, personalized care. They go beyond medicine to treat the whole person, not just the medical condition.
About the DAISY Award
The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at the age of 33 from complications from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The Foundation is dedicated to funding research to help fight diseases of the immune system and supports patients and their families.
Patrick's family were deeply touched by the clinical skill and compassionate care provided by his nurses. In honor of those exceptional nurses, they created the DAISY Award to recognize nursing excellence across the country.
Each month, this award is presented to an outstanding nurse in hospitals throughout the United States. Recipients are nominated by patients, their families and friends, physicians, other nurses and co-workers.

The DAISY Award at California Pacific
California Pacific Medical Center has partnered with the DAISY Foundation to present this prestigious award each month to a nurse who has demonstrated clinical skill, compassionate care, exemplary service and a commitment to excellence.
All nominees will be acknowledged. The DAISY Award recipient will be presented with an award at a public ceremony. The honoree's unit or department will also be recognized for their contribution to outstanding patient-centered care.
