General Surgery

Lawrence Yee, M.D., Vice Chairman
The General Surgery Residency Program is affiliated with UCSF. As such, California Pacific is a site of training for UCSF's General Surgery residents.
While on rotation at California Pacific, residents experience training in the Center for Outpatient Surgery, as well as at the inpatient location. They participate in the preoperative assessment of prospective surgical patients, actively participate intraoperatively, as well as with postoperative management and care.
In addition to experience in general surgery, they may gain experience in plastic, thoracic, and transplantation surgery. An important part of their rotation is to spend time in the private offices of surgeons evaluating pre- and post-operative patients. Surgical residents work closely with medical house staff providing surgical backup and appropriate consultation.
