How To Apply


Applications for Psychiatry PGY-1 positions are entirely through ERAS. They are accepted from August 1 to December 31. ERAS will require:

  • Personal statement
  • Recent photograph of your head and shoulders (black and white preferred)
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Copies of USMLE (no specific cutoff scores)
  • At least three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your Medical School Dean


International medical graduates must also send:

  • Copy of ECFMG certificate
  • California Status Evaluation letter from the California Medical Board
  • Experience in U.S. recommended
  • CPMC does not sponsor visas


Interviews for residencies in Psychiatry are by invitation only. Following the director's review of your application, you will be notified when you have been selected for an interview. Psychiatry interviews are scheduled from October 1 through January 31.
