    Psychiatry Residency Program

    How to Apply

    Applications for Psychiatry PGY-1 positions are entirely through ERAS. They are accepted from August 1 to December 31. ERAS will require:

    • Personal statement
    • Recent photograph of your head and shoulders
    • Curriculum vitae
    • USMLE transcript (We do not have specific cut-off scores or frequency requirements, but Step 1 scores greater than 200 are desired.)
    • At least three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your Medical School Dean

    International medical graduates must also send:

    • Copy of ECFMG certificate
    • CPMC does not sponsor visas
    • California Status Evaluation letter from the California Medical Board
    • Clinical experiences in the United States are highly recommended

    Interviews for residencies in Psychiatry are by invitation only. Following the selection committee’s review of your application, you will be notified when you have been selected for an interview. Psychiatry interviews are scheduled from October 1 through January 31.
