Faculty Spotlight

Michael Verhille, MD - Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director


Dr. Verhille completed his Internal Medicine Residency at California Pacific Medical Center (Children's Hospital), and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has been in private practice in San Francisco since 1990 and is deeply involved in house staff teaching at all levels. He was awarded "Teacher of the Year" by the Internal Medicine house staff in 1991. Dr. Verhille has been Director of the GI Fellowship Training Program since 1994. He has published articles and book chapters in the areas of Viral Hepatitis, Biliary Therapeutics, and Esophageal Motility. In addition, he served as President of the Northern California Society for Clinical Gastroenterology in 1999, a society representing more than 100 Gastroenterologists in Northern California.
