Transit from San Francisco International Airport to San Francisco & CPMC

BART Rapid Rail

BART Rapid Rail (This is the best & most cost effective option)
BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) operates rapid rail service to northern San Mateo County, San Francisco and the East Bay directly from SFO. The SFO BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (Boarding Area G side). BART is easily accessed from any terminal by riding SFO's AirTrain to the Garage G/BART Station stop. There is no charge to board AirTrain. BART’s website address is as follows: www.bart.gov. If you happen to be flying into S.F. or Oakland on the morning of your interview, BART is probably the best method of transit as CPMC has a shuttle service from the Civic Center BART station to the Pacific Campus where your interview will be held. You would simply exit the BART train at the Civic Center Station in San Francisco. The shuttle stop is located at Hyde & Grove Streets right in front of the Burger King and is identified as a white van with our hospital logo and the letters BV on it. The shuttle departs from Civic Center BART station every 15 minutes beginning at 5:45 am and the last departure from our campus at 6:15 pm. This is an option for you as well should you need to catch a flight from SFO after your interview day is over.

You will need to identify yourself and inform the shuttle driver that you are interviewing at CPMC to allow entrance onto the shuttle.

Taxi Cab

Taxis depart from the designated taxi zones located at the roadway center islands, on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level of all terminals. Uniformed taxi coordinators are stationed at the taxi zones from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. to assist passengers with questions or concerns. Ramp accessible taxis are available. Please contact the taxi coordinator to request a ramp accessible taxi, or phone *1191 from any airport courtesy phone.

It is approximately a 30-45 minute taxi ride from SFO to California Pacific Medical Center and estimated cost is about $55.00 including tip.

SuperShuttle

Super Shuttle is another transportation option for you from the airport. Their website address is www.supershuttle.com. Opens new window If you will be using Super Shuttle after your interview day is over, the address for your pick up is 2333 Buchanan Street. This is the entrance to the main hospital.

Transit around San Francisco

Hotel Kabuki

The first would be Hotel Kabuki San Francisco. This hotel is conveniently located in San Francisco’s historic Japantown and is within walking distance of CPMC or you can take the CPMC shuttle from the hotel to the medical center. The shuttle will make a couple of stops before arriving at the medical center so it would be best to take the 7:13 am shuttle to ensure you arrive on time to check in for your interview. Hotel Kabuki offers a corporate rate to CPMC based upon availability. When you make your reservation, please ask them for the CPMC rate. The hotel address is as follows:

From the South (SFO, Silicon Valley)

Take 101 Noth

Exit 9th Street

Take 9th street (staying in 2 left lanes) and cross Market to Hayes

Make a right onto Franklin Street

Stay on Franklin for 8-10 blocks

Take a left on Geary Boulevard

Continue on Geary until Laguna Street (1 1/2 blocks)

Take a right on Laguna Street

Take a left on Post Street

The Hotel is located on the corner of Post and Laguna

From the East Bay (Oakland Airport, Oakland, Berkeley)

Cross Bay Bridge into San Francisco

Once you get off the bridge you will be on 101 South

Exit 9th street/Civic Center

At the signal, go straight ahead onto Harrison Street

Go one block and turn right on 9th Street

At Market Street, the left lanes of 9th street turn into Hayes

Make a right onto Franklin

Take a left onto Geary Boulevard

Take a right onto Laguna Street

Take a left onto Post Street

The Hotel is located on the corner of Laguna and Post Streets

Holiday Inn Golden Gateway

The Holiday Inn Golden Gateway also offers a corporate rate to CPMC based upon availability. When you make your reservation, please ask them for the CPMC rate. CPMC Courtesy Shuttle service is available every 20 minutes, Monday – Friday, 6:30am to 6:10pm. For shuttle service prior to 6:30am, call 415-600-2817 by 3pm the day before request. For shuttle service from 6:20pm to 8pm same day, call Dispatch at 415-600-4700.

Hotel Tomo

We also recommend the Hotel Tomo located in Japantown. Hotel Tomo is a hip Japanese anime themed hotel. It is a fun and whimsical hotel and within walking distance (about 4 blocks uphill) of CPMC. There is no CPMC shuttle service from the Hotel Tomo.
