Randall Edson, MD, MACP, Program Director
Dr Edson received his undergraduate degree as well as a Masters in Music from Yale University and an MD from the University of Iowa. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. He joined the Mayo Infectious Diseases faculty in 1982, serving as ID fellowship director as well as Associate Program Director of the IM residency program for 25 years. While at Mayo he was promoted to Professor of Medicine, and received multiple teacher of the year awards as well as the Mayo Distinguished Clinician award.
Randy is a world renowned expert on medical knowledge acquisition and resident remediation, having published and presented widely on both topics. He counts among his greatest accomplishments helping many hundreds of residents succeed in their training and continues this longstanding tradition as CPMC Program Director.
