Introduction

The fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and Alameda County Medical Center (ACMC) strives to provide participating fellows the highest quality training by providing compassionate, evidence-based, high-quality, cost-effective care to adults.

Fellows will have the opportunity to manage both inpatients and outpatients that exhibit the full spectrum of pulmonary and critical care diseases from a variety of disciplines including general internal medicine, surgery, transplantation, trauma, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and obstetrics. This experience will take place in an educational setting under appropriate supervision by qualified attending physicians. CPMC and ACMC have collaborated to provide a fellowship program that provides the ultimate in patient exposure variety.

California Pacific Medical Center is one of the largest private, not-for-profit, academic medical centers in California. California Pacific is recognized as a tertiary referral center providing advanced medical care with a patient-centered focus. CPMC has four campuses located throughout the city of San Francisco.

Alameda County Medical Center is located in Oakland and its mission is to maintain and improve the health of all Alameda County residents, regardless of their ability to pay. ACMC offers residency programs in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Primary Care, Surgery, and Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery, and a one-year transitional internship. The residency programs are located at the Highland Hospital Campus. As a public hospital located in one of the most diverse urban counties in the nation with a busy trauma center and many clinics, ACMC serves a mix of patients with complex medical problems. Each residency program has an outstanding full-time teaching and research faculty.
