Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Clinical Training

There are multiple clinical rotations available to the GI trainee at California Pacific Medical Center. The GI Service is the main clinical service at California Pacific Medical Center. The fellow on this service supervises the general GI Consult Service, which includes a resident and often a medical student. The service is consultative and there are no direct ward responsibilities, but it is quite busy with a huge array of complicated patients and disease processes. The outpatient service is protected from inpatient consults and the fellow spends his time learning all of the relevant gastrointestinal procedures. The third core GI rotation is the liver service. CPMC has one of the country’s top liver transplant programs and this active program provides comprehensive exposure to liver diseases.
