Helpful Hints

Where to stay
If you don’t have friends or relatives in the SF Bay Area we would suggest starting with Craig's List, UCSF's housing list, or San Francisco Chronicle’s website, SFGate. Clara Rubin-Smith, our medical student program coordinator also has occasional “leads” on student housing.

Where to play
Residents, interns, office staff, nurses, hospitalists and other attending physicians tend to be a great source for recommendations. You can also log on to SFGate for lots of happenings around the Bay Area.

How to get around if you don’t have a vehicle
San Francisco has a very good mass transit system. We suggest you start with Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and San Francisco Muni. California Pacific has shuttles to and from the Civic Center BART and Muni stations.

Are there any other ways to get the “flavor” of the place?
Yes. Contact us with your mailing address at cpmcstudents@sutterhealth.org and we’ll send you our Internal Medicine house staff newsletter, Riprap.

What if you want to talk with any of our Internal Medicine house staff?
Feel free to e-mail or call us and we can ask a resident or intern to call you back to discuss their experiences here as students or as current house staff.

We hope to see you soon!
