wellness /wel-nis/ n. the state of being healthy in mind, body and spirit through conditioning one's self with positive daily habits, exercise, relaxation, stress-control, and good personal and social relationships
The medical profession is demanding. Often physicians work long hours, with many patients and staff depending on them. California Pacific Medical Center recognizes the impact a medical career can have on a clinician’s lifestyle and family.
Our Physician Wellness Committee was created to address the physical, emotional and social needs of these very busy professionals.
Mission & Vision
The mission of Physician Wellness Committee at CPMC is to promote clinician well-being, prevent impairment from any cause and to assist clinicians who are impaired, or at risk of impairment, to return to the full, active, productive and satisfying practice of medicine, with no risk of patient harm.

“Life happens” to all of us, bringing personal and professional challenges that can affect work-life balance or overall sense of well-being. The CPMC Physician Wellness Committee is available to offer confidential assistance when a clinician needs emotional or behavioral evaluation, support, guidance, and referral.
First and foremost, this is a confidential process and getting the proper help is the primary concern. All referrals are evaluated in confidence. No reporting occurs unless mandated by patient safety concerns; if there is a concern that cannot be remediated, Medical Staff Leadership does receive notification.
As a physician, how do I refer myself?
Any CPMC Medical Staff member can call the Confidential PWC Voicemail at 600-5849
How do I refer a colleague?
Referring a colleague for a wellness evaluation is sometimes a difficult decision. It can also be a life-improving event for a distressed clinician. Referrals to the Physician Wellness program may be made by any individual, in complete confidence, regarding any provider.
