Highly recommended! A certified lactation educator discusses the benefits and basic techniques of breastfeeding; how to prevent, recognize and manage potential difficulties; and considerations for partners. This one-session class meets weekday evenings or Saturday.

Breastfeeding & Multiples

Adjusting to life with multiples can be a bit overwhelming, which is why this special class for mothers of multiples was created. We will cover the basics of breastfeeding, along with the specific ideas and methods on how-to manage twins, triplets or beyond.

Gentle Yoga for Gynecological and Breast Cancer Survivors

March-June 2010

This series is intended to teach a gentle yoga practice to support overall wellness and healing process. Each sequence will include basic principles of movement, alignment and breathing awareness. Class is open to breast cancer and gynecological cancer survivors. Those in active treatment and who have completed treatments are welcomed. Pre-registration required.

Look Good...Feel Better

January-December 2010

Join a group of women, like yourself, who are facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Receive free cosmetics and lessons on how to compensate for thinning eyelashes and/or eyebrows, a free wig and tips on hair styling, free scarves and scarf/turban tips. Breast forms/bras are also available for the uninsured. Offered in collaboration with the American Cancer Society.

Breast Cancer Recovery Program

The Breast Cancer Recovery Program assists women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This includes surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and/or hormonal therapy. Our program is designed to aid women in their physical, emotional and spiritual recovery through an individualized, multi-disciplinary program. Our multi-disciplinary team is comprised of a nurse practitioner, social worker, chaplain, guided imagery specialist and nutritionist. Breast Health Consultations: One on One with a Nurse Practitioner - Breast Health Center

The Breast Health Center offers a private and comprehensive consultation with our Breast Health Nurse Specialist. A clinical exam and work-up is offered for women with breast complaints. At this 30-minute appointment our nurse practitioner will perform a thorough breast examination, order appropriate imaging studies, review the results of the studies with you, and coordinate follow-up. Breast Individual Examination Instruction - Breast Health Center

Individualized instruction is offered in a private one-hour session with a Breast Health Nurse Specialist. Women are given a thorough clinical breast examination. Practicing with silicon breast models and then on your own breasts, you are taught to differentiate between normal breast lumpiness and a lump that requires further investigation. Social Work Consultations for Cancer Patients - Community Health Resource Center

Social worker is assigned to California Pacific Medical Center's Radiation Oncology to provide short term counseling for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Services are also available to all patients with cancer. Assistance and support are provided in the areas of employment, transportation, in-home care, coping, caregiver stress, etc. Referrals to various community and hospital services are provided. No charge to patient for consultation during radiation therapy or breast cancer treatment. Fees for follow-up counseling based upon sliding scale.

Women and Cancer: A Healing Program

This is an ongoing 12-week multidisciplinary program open to all women who have been diagnosed with cancer. It is appropriate for women in active treatment or after treatment has ended. Experience stress reduction. Learn yoga, guided imagery, and the latest information on the healing properties of food. A weekly support group is included. Pre-registration is required. Program is sponsored by the Institute for Health and Healing, The Breast Health Center, and The Women's Health Resource Center.

Each meeting includes a presentation given by an invited speaker on relevant topics, such as disability insurance, stress reduction techniques, clinical trials, and more. You also have the opportunity to talk and gain support from other women.
