Lymphedema Therapy - Cancer Care

Lymphedema is a swelling of an area of the body resulting from an accumulation of lymph fluid. In cancer patients, lymphedema usually results from surgery involving removal of or damage to the lymph nodes. Lymphedema therapy can manage the fluid accumulation by reducing swelling and reducing the risk of infection. Lymphedema therapy is a painless, non-invasive treatment, using a technique called (CDP) Complete Decongestive Physiotherapy. It consists of: manual lymph drainage, compression bandages, breathing and exercises instruction, precautions and skin care instruction, and education for self-management. Length of therapy treatment determined on an individual patient basis. Physician referral required. Call (415) 600-6281 for more information.
