For women with gynecologic conditions requiring treatment, access to the least invasive and most up-to-date options and technology is as important as receiving outstanding care.

The Center for Advanced Surgical Options in Gynecology offers women individualized treatment plans paired with the latest technical advances in minimally invasive surgery to provide state-of-the-art care in a compassionate environment.

About Minimally Invasive Surgery

Eliminating the severe pain, prolonged recovery, and scarring from a large abdominal incision (laparotomy), minimally invasive gynecologic surgery makes use of a high performance digital video camera connected to a small telescope which is then placed through the naval (laparoscopy) into the abdomen or through the cervix into the uterine cavity (hysteroscopy). A variety of very small instrument, no larger than a quarter inch in diameter, are then used to complete the procedure. The surgical team performs the procedure while observing the surgery displayed on video screens set throughout the operating room.

Typically performed as a same-day surgery, the smaller incisions dramatically accelerate all aspects of recovery, reduce the need for pain medications, leave small scars that are cosmetically pleasing, and reduce the chance of scar tissue formation.

Women who undergo minimally invasive surgery typically report a quick return to normal activity and well-being.
