William B. Stewart, MD is currently the Medical Director of the Institute for Health & Healing at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco. He is also a past trustee for the California Pacific Medical Center Foundation; past Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology; and a member of the Senior Management Team at CPMC.
In 1989, influenced by a lifelong interest in philosophy and medical service work at the Aravind Eye Hospital in India, Dr. Stewart participated in the creation of what is today the Institute for Health & Healing (IHH), one of the largest, most comprehensive and successful integrative medicine programs in the country. His vision and work merge the scientific and the sacred, engaging in a deep and broad comprehension of the nature of healing.

On the Best Doctors in America List since its inception in 1989, Dr. Stewart has also been honored by inclusion in the Best Doctors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Stewart has lectured nationally and internationally from India to Israel and Maine to Montana and is the author of many scientific publications and thought-provoking commentaries.
