Dr. Callander first recipient of Doyle-Jewett Philanthropic Leadership Award

On April 21, 2010, Dr. John N. Callander was presented with CPMC Foundation's Doyle-Jewett Philanthropic Leadership Award. The award honors the Foundation's two founding visionaries, Mrs. Jean G. Doyle and George F. (Fritz) Jewett, Jr. and recognizes the hallmarks of their exceptional leadership: insight, personal generosity and an untiring commitment to the mission of California Pacific Medical Center Foundation.

As the first recipient of this award, Dr. Callander, appointed to the medical staff of Children’s Hospital in 1955, has been a member of the Foundation Board of Trustees since 1991, serving as Vice Chairman since 2000. Through his outstanding dedication, talent, wisdom and resources, he has shaped California Pacific Medical Center and its Foundation, and for that we are tremendously grateful.

Circles of Giving Four-Time Honoree

Dr. John Callander was the honored recipient of CPMC Foundation's Chairman's Award in 2005, and Outstanding Physician as Fundraiser award in 1995, 1997 and 2000.

Dr. John Callander is a respected teacher, writer and practitioner of orthopedic surgery. His long, successful career and his courteous, gentle and affectionate nature have won him a cadre of grateful patients and admirers throughout the City.

Dedicated Trustee and Fundraiser

As a member of the Foundation Board of Trustees and serving on numerous committees since 1984, Dr. Callander’s wisdom, enthusiasm and terrific fundraising skills have helped steer our Foundation and support the Medical Center he loves.

A three-time winner of the Outstanding Physician as Fundraiser award, Dr. Callander works tirelessly with development officers in one fundraising campaign after another. Both John and Barbara Callander have been unstinting donors for many years, supporting a variety of Medical Center programs. It is our great privilege to have honored Dr. Callander with the 2005 Chairman’s Award.
