Komen and California Pacific partner to promote breast health and education

2007 marked the 25th anniversary of the Dallas based Susan G. Komen for the Cure (formerly the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation). Since 1989, Komen has contributed $394,500 to support breast health programs at California Pacific Medical Center. This ongoing collaborative effort has resulted in several hundred women receiving free mammograms, clinical breast examinations, education on the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer, and more importantly, saved the lives of many women due to Komen’s generous philanthropic contributions.

Reaching out to a diverse community

The Foundation recently changed its name, in an effort to connect more women, particularly reaching out to younger diverse women, with the importance of self-breast exams and annual screening mammography.

Over the years, Komen’s philanthropy has helped to sustain CPMC’s community outreach and recruitment, provided free breast health services to women in need and heightened awareness about breast health and breast cancer in our community.
