Generous Gift from Loyal Volunteer Supports OB Center
As a volunteer at the Information Desk on the California Campus lobby for the past several years, Mrs. Ruth Nolte has witnessed firsthand the extraordinary resources and assistance California Pacific Medical Center provides to young women and children. From prenatal screening to childbirth to the Child Development Center, Mrs. Nolte has been struck by the sheer number of Bay Area families who have come to rely on CPMC over the years, and by the impact we have on their lives.
Through a generous planned gift in support of these vital services, Mrs. Nolte has funded "The Ruth Nolte OB Center." This special center provides a complete range of services for expectant mothers, and an adjacent waiting area for fathers and families.
Mrs. Nolte has lived for many years in Presidio Heights, and originally worked at CPMC as a Candy Striper. She left to pursue an engineering career, which included stints at NATO and the State Department in the mid-1940s, and traveled extensively. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Nolte came back as a volunteer after receiving strong encouragement from Anja Koot, Director of Volunteer Services.
Mrs. Nolte feels that "we might as well make the choice to contribute to others, if we are able to do so, while we are still here" and wonders "why many wait to leave gifts in recognition of their interests or in appreciation of their own good fortune at a much later date." Mrs. Nolte believes her gift is an opportunity to show her appreciation to California Pacific Medical Center, which she feels has given so much in service to the community.
