Funding Priorities: Neurosciences
Your support makes a difference
Brain Lab Cranial Navigation System
Funding Need: $470,000
This is a GPS system for the brain, not unlike the ones used in cars to find directions. You are invited to help provide such a system for the new Neuroscience Institute at CPMC’s Davies Campus. Every patient with a brain tumor, Parkinson’s disease or epilepsy wants to know that their surgeon can locate and treat the abnormality without damaging healthy nearby areas of the brain, such as the ones that control their speech or their ability to walk. Your gift will help provide that assurance.
Neurosurgery Microscope
Funding Need: $325,000
Only one instrument allows a surgeon to operate on nerves as small as a human hair: microscopes like the one your gift will help purchase. With every new generation of such microscopes, the lenses get better, the picture sharper. This latest model even minimizes the surgeon’s fatigue during lengthy operations and gives nurses a direct view of the action, so they can anticipate each next step. Neurosurgery is a delicate business. Your gift will play a key role in bringing about the best possible outcomes for every patient.
