CPMC Board of Directors honors
President Emeritus Jerry Mapp
Extraordinary leadership, generous spirit, great vision
On June 1, 2009 Jerry W. Mapp, long time President & CEO of CPMC Foundation moved to the newly created position of President Emeritus. He will continue to be active in his new role working with the many donors, friends and supporters of the Medical Center that have come to know him so well. At their May 2009 meeting, the Board of Directors of California Pacific Medical Center (now the Sutter West Bay Hospitals Board of Directors) passed a resolution honoring Jerry and thanking him for his 25 years of outstanding service to the institution.
Jerry is the rock on which CPMC Foundation was built and we are grateful for his extraordinary leadership, generous spirit and great vision. In 1981, Founding Chairman Mrs. Morris Doyle, began the Foundation through her own generosity as well as the hospital's with a $2 million gift. By the end of 2009, the Foundation's invested fund balance had grown to $200 million. Highlights of Jerry’s accomplishments also include helping to raise over $300 million during his 25-year tenure.
Compassionate Service Award Honoree
The Compassionate Service Award honors those who have made extraordinary contributions to the health of our community. On March 7, 2010, The Institute for Health & Healing was privileged to honor Jerry W. Mapp with the Compassionate Service Award. Jerry recognized early on in his career the need for medical centers to have a “soul” and to that end made a commitment to support the Institute for Health & Healing and the Department of Spiritual Care at CPMC.
Honorary Chair of Mardi Gras Ball 2010
Mr. Jerry W. Mapp was named the Honorary Chair of Mardi Gras Ball 2010, sponsored by The Little Jim Club. Jerry presided over the coronation of the Mardi Gras Ball Monarch, the candidate who raised the most money for Little Jim Club in support of pediatrics and neonatal programs at CPMC. This year's Ball was a benefit for the Kalmanovitz Child Development Center. Jerry was crowned Mardi Gras King in 1998.
Because life is precious, we encourage giving to life and a lifetime of giving.
